I was never a Good-looking guy. Tall, skinny, no muscles, glasses. Lots of fear, guilt feelings of worthlessness thanks to the idiocy of an institution called the catholic church. I left at 30. Found a spiritual path. So much better!!
Did I change my looks? No. Better glasses, nicer clothes, to help with my appearance but my looks..body and face, I can’t change. So I learned to accept this.
Ever buy a used car? The salesperson will gloss over anything wrong and immediately switch gears ( pun fully intended, yes) and show you all the good features. You need to be able to do this as well. You are your own best salesperson.
I looked with myself. Women weren’t accepting my looks but guess what? I didn’t either! How fair is it to want you to do something for me that I’m not willing to do myself? So I accepted that this is what I look like.
I’m sure my looks were not the only issue. They weren’t, trust me. Looking within myself, I realized, like a used car salesperson, that I could show them the best parts of me, and gloss over the looks. Now some women still rejected how I looked. So I began rejecting them for being so damn superficial and not taking the time to get to know me. Now to get to this point I had to show them Me. So I did this. I took an inventory of my Self. What do I have going for me? What can I talk about to hold their interest? What have I done that I can talk about? Next, and more importantly, what can I ask to get to know them? So I thought of things I really wanted to know.
What do you have going for you? Be the salesperson. Don’t tell them. Show them. Are you a nice decent guy? Tell a woman that and she have her track shoes on and run for away from you!! Why? Because all the Nice Guys they ran into weren’t at all. Do things that show them you’re nice. Be polite, courteous, make eye contact, NOT× breasts contact with your eyes!! Don’t have any expectations of anything sexual. If something happens hurrah. If not that’s ok too. Especially if she accepts a second date. Bigger and better hurrah!!
Take interest in her interests even if you’re not interested. She likes ice skating. You don’t? Doesn’t matter. When did you start ice skating? Ever do it competitively? You did? Where? When? How’d you do? You didn’t? Would you want to? Her interest doesn’t have to be your interest, but you paying attention to her interests and asking about them puts the focus on her, showing you are interested in HER. You’re also not dominating the conversation this way.
