By definition that I found, low esteem is actually when one lacks confidence or feeling worthless. Actually self esteem is how you feel about yourself, where as confidence is your ability in trusting themselves.
But, confidence is silent and even low esteem people can fake confidence. Example, Fay is afraid of being wrong so she keeps her thoughts to herself and blames herself when things goes wrong. But, in parties, she stand straight and use hand gestures when talking. Although she is worried about people not liking her, she prevents being a pushover by able to say “no”.

Vice versa, people with low confidence but high esteem is possible. Just like a strong feminine energy from the inside but your masculine energy (the one that protects the feminine) isn’t strong enough. Example, Jay acknowledge and knows that he is a smart student but when there are a group of friends joke that he is dumb, he doesn’t ask why or reply instead, he just laugh.
