I have a few discipline practices that help me overcome procrastination. One is to make a list of things I need to do and then start with the most important task. I also try to break my tasks down into smaller, more manageable pieces. And finally, I try to set deadlines for myself so that I have a incentive to get started.

Procrastination is a common issue for many people. There are many different ways to overcome it, but some of the most common practices are setting small goals, breaking the task down into smaller parts, and using a timer. Sometimes people need to be reminded that the task is important, and sometimes they need to be given a specific timeline for completing the task.

Overcoming procrastination is something that I have been working on for years through my studies of discipline. Unfortunately there is not an instant antidote that rids us of all our bad habits and gives us Jocko style discipline. If that was an option, I’d sign myself up in a heartbeat.
So is procrastination a you thing or is it a brain thing? By a you thing I mean bad habits, lack of discipline and care, but more importantly a lack of personal philosophy. And by a brain thing I mean depression, adhd, or any other mental hinderance.

If you think you’re suffering from depression and feel like your body just can’t do anything and that’s the cause of your procrastination, then maybe it’s time to go to the doctor! A lot of the time people have undiagnosed issue and if they’re fixed, who knows what your body is capable of?

Often, we need to have a long hard talk with ourselves. We watch YouTube videos on how to get out of bed early, or how to start eating better and forget the message the moment the video is over.
How the hell do we defeat that?
Not to sound crazy, but go to the bathroom, without your phone or any other electronic and sit on the toilet (not to use the restroom of course) with a pen and paper. Then ask yourself: why am I procrastinating? Is my work life seeping into my personal life or vis a versa, is my love for TikTok taking up 2–3 hours of my day, or is my lack of organizational skills killing my ability to focus on one task before moving to the next?
Regardless of what the underlying issue is, like a previous answer of mine stated, we are guaranteed one thing for certain in this life and that is the inevitability of death and aging. You do not want to be 30 years old wishing you would have taken better care or yourself, or had been more organized, or remembered more often to have fun. Right? Right?
It is not easy to be less of a procrastinator but the journey towards ridding yourself of most procrastination will only make you a stronger individual and I want that for everyone on this planet!
It will literally always be easier said than done, so find one task to give your complete focus to and go from there.
