An example of this would have been witnessing the reprisals that have been taken against other colleagues when they have made certain work errors, or having heard comments made by them about something bad that happened to them during their workday.
Finally, to explain why this phobia is maintained over time we must take into account the consequences of the problem (instrumental learning models), since some people can obtain direct benefits of ergophobia (for example, to attract greater attention from the from other people – whether they are family or peers -), or indirect benefits, that is, that allow them to get rid of tasks or situations that may cause them discomfort (for example, that facilitate easier jobs, that do not force them to assume responsibilities or let them out before work).
